This is what we personally use. Top quality 30R9 fuel injection (FI) hose to withstand today’s abrasive fuel mixtures. Anything less and and you will literally be playing with fire!

This kit replaces all rubber fuel lines in the engine compartment AND the lines connecting the gas tank / fuel pump / fuel filter. The kit also contains new fuel injector seals.

Fitment:

Fits 1983 - 1991 water-cooled Vanagons only. Does not work with air-cooled or diesel vans.

Maintenance:

Replace when worn or every five (5) years, whichever comes first. Whether you use our kit or something else, Vanagon fuel line maintenance is no joke. If neglected, it can literally burn your van (and anything / anyone in it) to the ground. Modern fuels are harsh and abrasive on rubber products, if you notice any surface cracking or fuel seeping from your hoses you must replace them immediately!

Kit includes:

  • Twelve (12) feet of 5/16″ (7.9mm) 30R9 FI rated fuel hose (15 feet for 4WD Syncros)

  • 20 inches of 1/2″ (12.7mm) low pressure fuel hose for the gas-tank-to-fuel-pump connection

  • Twenty-four (24) small stainless steel ear clamps for the FI hose and fuel filter

  • Two (2) small stainless steel ear clamps - spares for future fuel filter replacement (1983 - 1985 use one, 1986 - 1991 use both.)

  • Two (2) large stainless steel ear clamps for the low pressure hose

  • One (1) large stainless steel ear clamp - spare for future fuel filter replacement (1983 - 1985 use this, 1986 - 1991 will not.)

  • One (1) rubber grommet to bypass the plastic, very hazardous, firewall connection

  • Four (4) inner fuel injector seals

  • Four (4) outer fuel injector seals

Multi-Piece Kit:

Yes, it really is just $15+shipping! READ BELOW.

My fuel hose comes in a bulk roll. Most of the time when I finally get to the end, I have a random length of hose remaining. The normal kit (above) comes in one continuous piece; the total length needed is known, and you just cut-to-length. Easy. This multi-piece kit makes it much harder for me to guarantee you will have enough proper length pieces to complete the job. This hose is perfectly good and it would be super wasteful for me to throw it away. As such, I am offering this at kit at a heavy discount…so much so that I in fact lose a few bucks. In the spirit of being less wasteful, I am fine with that.

The caveat here is that I CANNOT guarantee that you will have enough hose to complete to the job! If this happens, you will simply need to go to a local auto parts store and purchase the remaining length you may need. With that being said, I try my absolute best to make sure you have enough for a 2WD van. (If you have a 4WD Syncro, you will likely end up short.) You will most likely have enough. But again, no guarantee. As long as you are ok with this, I am glad to pass on this savings to you. This kit will be fully complete, otherwise.

Please note, these kits are rare, and only show up about once per year.

  • MINIMUM of twelve (12) feet of 5/16″ (7.9mm) 30R9 FI rated fuel hose —> This will arrive in at least two (2) pieces!

  • APPROXIMATELY 20 inches of 1/2″ (12.7mm) low pressure fuel hose for the gas-tank-to-fuel-pump connection

  • Twenty-four (24) small stainless steel ear clamps for the FI hose and fuel filter

  • Two (2) small stainless steel ear clamps - spares for future fuel filter replacement (1983 - 1985 use one, 1986 - 1991 use both.)

  • Two (2) large stainless steel ear clamps for the low pressure hose

  • One (1) large stainless steel ear clamp - spare for future fuel filter replacement (1983 - 1985 use this, 1986 - 1991 will not.)

  • One (1) rubber grommet to bypass the plastic, very hazardous, firewall connection

  • Four (4) inner fuel injector seals

  • Four (4) outer fuel injector seals

TOOL REQUIREMENT:

A pair of “pincer pliers” are required for the ear clamps. We highly recommend and personally use the Oetiker Side-Jaw pliers (roughly $45), however, they are seemingly hard to come by nowadays. They are excellent as they have front and side pincers that help in tight spaces.

If you're looking for a more budget friendly option, the Knipex brand pliers show below have the same features, are about half the cost (roughly $25), are also highly rated, and maybe more importantly, readily available. However, we have never personally used them.
